Various groups and agencies in and around Wyandot County offer a variety of financial assistance options.

Services:

Homelessness Prevention & Rapid Re-Housing: provides financial assistance and services to prevent individuals and families from becoming or assist those who are experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized.

Weatherization: provides home weatherization services including insulation, window/door repair, heating system repair/replacement, and education on energy reduction.

Emergency and Regular Home Energy Assistance Programs (HEAP): provides financial assistance for electric, gas, or bulk fuel bills. Provides cooling assistance for income eligible customers in the summer.

Case Management: Caseworkers assists individuals and families facing financial difficulties and provide financial literacy services, credit repair, and budgeting assistance.

Support Services: provides financial assistance in emergency situations for such things as rent/mortgage payments, utilities, prescriptions, and other emergency needs.

Head Start: a no-cost, comprehensive developmental program for preschool children in a classroom setting.

Open Door Resource Center

Services: Faith-based organization offering financial assistance, resources, referrals, and advocacy for Wyandot County residents with emergency needs such as rent, utilities, gasoline, groceries, prescriptions, etc. Verification and qualifications apply.

Also provides assistance in developing a budget and future plan. Provides donated furniture, appliances, and miscellaneous household items as available for those who qualify. 2 Coats Clothing program offers work clothes, work boots, dress clothes, suits, coats, and shoes based on available donations.

Salvation Army

Hours: Tuesday & Thursday 9am-4pm

Services: Offers gasoline, food vouchers, lodging, help towards rent and utilities, and will help with some prescriptions if cost is not too high. Will help Wyandot County residents once per year and eligibility is based on need. Provides assistance to individuals and families affected by disaster. Financial planning class, “Help getting started”.

Services: Wyandot County Department of Job and Family Services administers public assistance programs including, SNAP (formerly known as Food Stamps), Medicaid, Ohio Works First (Cash Assistance), Workforce Development/OhioMeansJobs Center, CCMEP, WIOA, Child and Adult Protective Services, Child Care Assistance, Child Support, Transportation Assistance, and Prevention, Retention, and Contingency Services.

Wyandot County’s OhioMeansJobs Center has public computers available for job searching. Resume assistance is available upon request.
